Team Gia Home Page

Welcome to the Team Gia Home
Page. The goal of Team Gia is to increase awareness of Cystic
Fibrosis and Childhood Cancer. Our hope is to raise money in memory of
Gia,, and to find a cure for both of these disease. This fight is personal
for us. Shortly after Gia was born, she was
diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. This life shortening disease affects
30,000 children and adults in the United States. Gia was diagnosed with
Hepatoblastoma, childhood cancer of the liver, shortly after her 3rd
birthday. She passed away on July 26, 2004.
We have been participating in Great Strides since Spring,
2001. In 2002, we formed Team Gia and walked at Tyler Park, Newtown, PA.
Team Gia raised $10,381 for the CF Foundation. With the support of
the Delaware Valley Chapter of the CF Foundation, we organized a walk in Peace
Valley Park, Doylestown, PA. Doylestown Great Strides took place on May
10, 2003 and was a success! We are proud to
report that Team Gia raised $7,362 for the CF Foundation. Since
that time we have not personally participated in the walks, but many do in
memory of Gia. We will return someday soon, and we hope you are there with
us.
We hope that Team Gia is well represented in Great Strides
2006! Even if we are not there, our family and friends can continue
with our success.
Please consider donating to the Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation in the future. The CF Foundation has consistently been recognized as one of the top health
organizations in the country at efficiently using its money raised to invest in
medical/research programs. According to The Wall Street Journal’s SmartMoney
magazine, the CF Foundation is a charity that “won’t waste your money.”
